Salmon Cannon is a interdisciplinary narrative that follows a salmon swept up on the journey of a lifetime. The salmon is unexpectedly launched past everything he has ever known and loved, witnessing a world he never experienced before, possibly seeing the meaning of life itself, and inevitably deposited to his new home. Through the experience of being abruptly transported away from his home and sent traveling through different worlds, his perspective is permanently changed for the better. Salmon Cannon is an interdisciplinary experimental film that follows the salmon’s odyssey through the changing of artistic mediums to represent unknown environments and experiences. The media used includes a juxtaposition of digital 2D animation with physical media such as cut paper, clay, and puppeted stop motion, direct on 35mm film, live action projection, and a phenakistiscope.
